Iron and String Life Enhancement, Inc. was founded in 1998 to provide residential, respite, transportation, advocacy, vocational services and day habilitative programming for developmentally disabled individuals and those with special needs in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. ISLE has since expanded into Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. ISLE currently has over 200 employees and services over 150 individuals with disabilities. Our mission focuses on person centered planning with our individuals. Our clients are at the center of all decision making. ISLE’s first client was Mr. Joe Gallagher. Joe became an ISLE residential client in July of 1999.
ISLE provides staffing for 21 shared living facilities in Struthers, Boardman, Liberty, Austintown, Poland, and Youngstown. However ISLE also provides long term assistance in many homes or apartments for singular individuals. The ISLE staff members provide day-to-day client assistance in the areas of cooking, cleaning, health management, personal hygiene, safety, money management, shopping and medication administration. Each day our clients with disabilities are supported to be as independent as possible and driven to live their life to the fullest potential. ISLE also provides in-home support to disabled individuals residing with their friends or family. Our program is designed to assume short-term responsibility for care of the person in his or her own home. This service provides back-up support for the care of a person with disabilities who ordinarily live in their household. Temporary residence is also provided on an as-needed basis. For respite info contact Candy ().
Transportation is provided to any individual residing within the ISLE community. This includes but is not limited to residential, day habilitative programming, medical appointments and community integration activities. We currently have over 10 accessible vehicles. For questions about transportation please contact Tony ().
Autism Respite Program for Children
ISLE also provides an Autism school age program for children up to the age of 22 or until they graduate. The service provided is typically a 1:1 ratio in-home or out of home support or activity. This is usually provided through the Level One or Individual Options Waiver, although private pay is an option. The ISLE staff works hand in hand with the families to provide the needed assistance to prepare their child for the future. For questions about our Autism Respite Program contact Sonya ().
