History
Iron and String Life Enhancement, Inc. was founded in 1998 to provide residential, respite, transportation, advocacy, vocational services and day habilitative programming for developmentally disabled individuals and those with special needs in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. ISLE has since expanded into Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. ISLE currently has over 200 employees and services over 150 individuals with disabilities. Our mission focuses on person centered planning with our individuals. Our clients are at the center of all decision making. ISLE’s first client was Mr. Joe Gallagher. Joe became an ISLE residential client in July of 1999.
Residential
ISLE provides staffing for 21 shared living facilities in Struthers, Boardman, Liberty, Austintown, Poland, and Youngstown. However ISLE also provides long term assistance in many homes or apartments for singular individuals. The ISLE staff members provide day-to-day client assistance in the areas of cooking, cleaning, health management, personal hygiene, safety, money management, shopping and medication administration. Each day our clients with disabilities are supported to be as independent as possible and driven to live their life to the fullest potential. Respite
ISLE also provides in-home support to disabled individuals residing with their friends or family. Our program is designed to assume short-term responsibility for care of the person in his or her own home. This service provides back-up support for the care of a person with disabilities who ordinarily live in their household. Temporary residence is also provided on an as-needed basis. Transportation
Transportation is provided to any individual residing within the ISLE community. This includes but is not limited to residential, day habilitative programming, medical appointments and community integration activities. We currently have over 10 accessible vehicles.
